The birth of CedarCare was inspired by the poignant narrative of VS, whose personal journey with mental illness underscores its founding of a dedicated agency championing mental health in community settings. For over a decade, VS faced mental health challenges from her youth, enduring a time when society offered minimal support. Her unwavering determination to maintain her independence and uphold her dignity exemplifies the spirit that CedarCare embodies.

Living in Ontario, a city bursting with cultural vibrancy and picturesque waterfronts, VS was beloved for her kindness and artistic flair. Her home, a haven of creativity through her paintings and gardens, became a place of solace for her and the community, providing a peaceful retreat from the challenges of daily life.

As she aged, VS's mental health needs grew, yet her resolve to stay in her beloved home, surrounded by cherished memories, never wavered. Her house was more than a physical space; it was a sanctuary for her soul, where she wished to spend her final moments.
